Belotero® was launched in the UK in January 2007 and distributed in the UK by Merz Pharma UK Ltd.
It is a Non-Animal Hyaluronic Acid gel and is designed from biofermentation of hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally present in our body. The makers Anteis in Switzerland claim makes Belotero safe and completely biocompatible, as well as fully biodegradable.
No allergy test is needed.

The manufacturers claim that Belotero® is long lasting and effective from 6 to 9+ months depends upon the degree of correction required, your age and lifestyle.
In practice a top up may be required after a month and then 4-6monthly after this to maintain the correction required.
This product seems to cause less discomfort, swelling and bruising after treatment compared to some other brands.
