Belotero® was launched in the UK in January 2007, distributed in the UK by Merz Pharma UK Ltd.
It is a Non-Animal Hyaluronic Acid gel, designed from biofermentation of hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally present in our body; which the makers Anteis in Switzerland claim makes it safe and completely biocompatible, as well as fully biodegradable.
No allergy test is needed.
The manufacturers claim that Belotero® is long lasting and effective from 6 to 9+ months depends upon the degree of correction required, your age and lifestyle.
In practice a top up may be required after a month and then 4-6monthly after this to maintain the correction required.
This product seems to cause less discomfort, swelling and bruising after treatment compared to some other brands.
